A bike ride through sunny streets, a rollicking radio show with our new BFF Gabriele, the best wurst film family fiesta ever in Khani and Nadine’s lovely courtyard, a repeat performance of The SWS: Berlin with all the local nightbirds sweetening up the soundtrack, a midnight stroll through Kreuzberg, and a last toast to the town with our dear cinematic soul sister Dagie… Berlin, you’ve been mighty good to us!
There are days when everything is just perfect just as it is. The sun shines. The city hums. The door opens to a magical world you never noticed before. The friends gather. The music begins. Images flicker on the screen. We experience a moment in time together, a place of dreams and desire, connection and creativity, past and possibility. We come from all over the world but tonight we’re all Berliners.
Thank you Dagie and Khani for taking a wish and making it this. Thank you Alyssa, Andrea, Andrea, Andrea, Andreas, Ati, Bernd, Dagie, David, Dylan, Enrique, Florian, Gabriele, Jenna, Juli, Khani, Martin, Nadine, Namuun, Nico, Sara, Tiger, Xavier for joining this journey… May our paths meet again someday!
From stuff on the street to high end galleries, from massive museums to out-of-the-way ateliers, Berlin is all about art. Today’s tasty tidbits include a visit to the Museum of American Art (Thank you for welcoming us into this magical world, Alexis!), a stop at neugerriemschneider to experience the urban interventions of Renata Lucas (Thank you for illuminating the drains, Dylan!), a trip to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt for some Ape Culture (We loved The Masked Monkeys, Ojoboca!) and a truly transformative multi-media journey at the elegant atelier of Nina Sten-Knudsen (What an incredible gift, Nina! We’ll remember it always!).
The sunny summer holiday weekend continues with a picnic at Tempelhofer Field - the old Berlin city airport that was turned into a glorious giant park in 2008. In attendance are members of LaborBerlin, filmmakers from The Sound We See: Berlin and Roger Beebe and his fine arts students from Ohio State University… In the city that loves to chill, this just might be the chillest day of all…
The sun if finally out in full force and so are the people of Berlin… at the flea market, at the vintage ceramics sale and at the crazy Kreuzberg Culture Carnival where there’s plenty of beer, broken glass, drums and dancing in the streets. But the true sign of summer is the cute little strawberry huts sprinkled all over the city… Savor the sweetness!
