After eight glorious weeks, it’s time to go home to the City of Angels. What will we miss the most about India? Elephants, camels, cows, buffalo, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, chickens, peacocks, and pigs roaming around free in the streets? People bringing us chai all the time? Auto rickshaws? Everybody singing out loud in public? Sadhus (especially the lady ones) who bring good luck? Kurtis 24/7? Limca? That mysterious, elegant side-to-side head motion that means something like Hmmm…Yes…All Right…Let Me Think About That!

India, we’ll be thinking about you for a long, long time…

After two weeks of collective cinematic wonder, it’s time to share the magic with our fellow Open Electives participants and the entire National Institute of Design community… Thank you to our stellar students Ashima, Bogdan, Chandu, Jason, Kunal A., Kunal D., Madhuri, Mélody, Mustaqeem, Nanu, Rishika, Shiho, Shivatmika and Vikas for the inspiration, the love, and the truly beautiful images… It’s only the beginning!

Some of the things Ahmedabad is known for include Ravivari, a 600-year-old Sunday Market on the banks of the Sabarmati River, The Calico Museum of Textiles, and the Sabarmati Ashram where Gandhi lived before embarking on the Dandi March in 1930. It is also known for the Louis Kahn designed Indian Institute of Management which we aren’t allowed to see (because we’re not carrying our passports with us and there’s just no getting around the rules sometimes!) but we do see an elephant gracefully walking down the middle of the freeway carrying some nice green grass in his trunk which is even better!
