5.10.18: Gettin’ Schooled

Up early today to hop a bus that will take us a couple of hours up the coast to Polo Educativo Technológico – Arrayanes, a magical school in a forest next to the ocean where 500 students (70 of whom live on campus) engage in filmmaking, environmental studies and boat building. PARADISE! What a pleasure to hang out with such enthusiastic, dynamic, talented young folks… We walked through the woods, watched and discussed a couple of films, ate lunch, shot some Super 8, sang a few songs and sparked some plans for a new on-campus darkroom space. Thanks to Pepi Gonçalvez the punk rock teacher, and all the students and staff at PET Arrayanes for inviting us to share in this beautiful community where learning is truly a joy!

Thank you Canada Council for the Arts and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts for the generous fiscal support in making this engagement possible!
