Today is the 70th Anniversary of VE Day. On May 8, 1945, an act of military surrender was signed in Berlin by Germany’s Nazi Government and accepted by Allies, ending WWII in Europe. Quite by accident we find ourselves at the Soviet War Memorial in Treptower Park where people have gathered to lay flowers at the base monumental statues in honor of the more than 20 million Russian soldier and civilian WWII casualties.
