1.6.13: Sunday Morning, Sunday Night

Why sleep now? At 4 am we join Phuong in exploring the empty streets beside the place where the French paved a pagoda and put up  and post office. At 6 am we meet up again with Thu and down quick, tasty bowls of Pho before filming various old timer exercise contingents (tai chi, ballroom dancing, laughing yoga, macarena, interpretive stretching…) at strategic locations around Hoan Kiem Lake. Then processing (always better in seasonal sweaters!). Then a wild taxi ride with Loc and Nam to the little photography shop of Mr. Lam where the 9 pm shoot takes place in a tiny and very crowded courtyard apartment complex… kittens, laundry, communal toilet, shrine to ancestors, young dudes passing through on motorbikes, kids in pajamas, grandmas taking out the trash, television, singing…it’s all happening on a Hanoi Sunday night!
